☝ LEARN THE ART OF SAYING NO
All of us are so ready to take a stand for something or the other but what if its about your own self, would you be okay in saying no to friend for something that matters to him/her but doesn't suit your taste ? well, if you are it's good but most of the people can't express their opinions openly because they have fears of disapproval and non acceptance in a certain group of friends/society, mostly people feel that being a yes person always is synonymous to being nice, which is not!
Here are some ways how to say NO
1. Know that your time is precious & you can only give your energies to others when you are done with doing what's important to you, when you will feel so strongly about this then only you will be able to say 'No, I just can't do it at the moment as I have lots of stuff pending'.
2. Set a list of mental 'must do list' for yourself which simply means enlisting your priorities in order of importance, so even when you're free you'll know what comes on the first preference for you to do. Before making people understand that why you cannot be a yes person you first need to understand yourself that your reasons are important enough to you & only you can fulfill them for yourself.
3. If people are persistent for your Yes for a certain something then also keep sticking to your NO without reluctance as no one else knows your side of the story better than you, if at max you can't convince them and don't want to hurt them too then simply say 'sorry if that bothers you, but No I can't do it', but don't go about being too sorry as you really don't need to be too apologetic for guarding your personal space.
4. Don't be excessively nice to people whom you don't wish to entertain much, you don't have to be answerable to everybody who wants something out of you, only care to explain your reasons to the ones who really matter to you a lot.
5. Don't give people this hope that you shall do something later when you don't intend to, instead be real & tell them that you don't agree with what they want you to do & that you somehow can't do it even later. Being real saves the hassle of being answerable all the time & others will also appreciate your honesty in some way at least.
if you can do something later with your free will then be clear in stating why you can't do it now & how you wish to go about it.
Lastly if at all you care about being nice while saying no then again I would like to mention here that we were only born with one body & have only one soul to take care of within our body so our prime duty is to take charge of our actions & direct them towards our self growth first.
You need to have your own jar filled before you plan to serve others. You can't serve from an empty plate so always work towards making your plate full.
